Is Coconut Water Good For Male Fertility?

The research on whether coconut water is good for male fertility is based on several factors. It is known that it contains L-arginine, an amino acid that improves sperm motility and protects them from free radical damage. In addition, coconut water is said to boost testosterone levels. But this claim needs further verification. In a study, animals in two groups were treated with 3 mL of undiluted coconut water for 10 days. After that, the animals were sacrificed by cervical dislocation, and internal organs were exposed. Testes and cauda epididymus were removed, and the specimens were placed in sterilized watched glass for the tests. Testes and testosterone levels were measured using standard procedures.
L-arginine in coconut water improves sperm motility
The nutrient L-arginine found in coconut water is a nutritionally essential amino acid necessary for spermatogenesis. In studies, supplementing with coconut water improved sperm motility, morphology, and count. In addition, the antioxidant properties of coconut water are beneficial for sperm, since free radicals can reduce sperm quality. This is good news for males who want to improve their sperm motility and count.
A recent study in collared peccaries found that ACP-116c, a compound containing 20% egg yolk and 3% glycerol, preserved sperm motility and kinetic ratings better than Tris. It has biochemical properties similar to fresh coconut water, including high concentrations of Na+ and K+. This compound is nontoxic, buffering, and practical. Additionally, it contains essential nutrients for cell preservation. Coconut water-based extenders are readily available in areas of Brazil where Cocus nutera is not grown or farmed.
Men with cardiovascular conditions are more likely to experience erectile dysfunction due to reduced nitric oxide levels. A significant percentage of cases of male infertility can be treated with L-arginine supplements. When taken along with other dilators, antioxidants, or anti-inflammatory medications, this compound can significantly improve sperm motility. High levels of stress are associated with reduced levels of L-arginine in the sperm production pathway. Men who are highly stressed should consider taking supplements of L-arginine to improve their sperm motility.
L-arginine protects sperm from free radical damage
Free radical damage and oxidative stress are especially harmful to sperm. Free radicals are unstable molecules that are directly related to cellular degeneration. They are produced by various factors, including smoking, poor nutrition, and eating fried and barbequed foods. Free radicals damage sperm and cause hyperactivity. As a result, sperm must be protected from free radical damage. Fortunately, l-arginine protects sperm by boosting the body's levels of anti-oxidants. Insufficient levels of antioxidants can cause severe damage to sperm.

In one study, scientists looked at the effects of antioxidant supplements on sperm DNA fragmentation. They found that a daily dose of L-arginine (LC) supplementation increased the number of intact sperm DNA. The researchers also found that the treatment improved zona pellucida binding and spermatozoa-oocyte fusion. Supplements of folic acid, biotin, and copper were also beneficial.
Free radicals are dangerous to sperm because they directly affect sperm motility. Furthermore, nitrosative stress affects the activity of the Ca2+-ATPase, which is a critical component of the sperm's plasma membrane. The Ca2+-ATPase regulates sperm motility by activating cAMP production.
L-arginine doesn't increase testosterone
L-Arginine is an amino acid, a chemical building block that is essential for protein production in the body. You can find it in red meat, poultry, fish, and dairy products. It can also be synthesized in a laboratory. It has been used as a medicine for a variety of health conditions, including high blood pressure and intermittent claudication. This article will explain how arginine can help you become more fertile.
In addition to its role in spermatogenesis, L-arginine is a component of seminal fluid. It protects testicular tissue from damage caused by nicotine and its metabolite, cotinine. It also maintains the health of spermatozoa by protecting them from lipid peroxidation. This means that boosting the amount of L-arginine in male body water may increase fertility.
Research shows that L-arginine can improve the health of the testes. However, it does not seem to increase testosterone. That said, it has been shown to improve sexual function in men who suffer from erectile dysfunction. Studies have shown that taking 6 grams of L-arginine a day can improve men's performance during exercise. Although lower doses are unlikely to be effective, they can improve the effect of lower doses if combined with maritime pine bark extract.
